Providing Opportunities

Financial Aid is Critical to Our Mission

Every year, Sea Education Association (SEA) awards more than $1 million in need-based aid and scholarships.

We want to do more.

Sea Education Association offers a wide variety of financial aid, including merit scholarships, need-based aid, and other scholarships, in order to make SEA’s unique programs accessible to high school and college students.

But there’s so much more we could do to help diverse, highly qualified students who can’t otherwise afford to sail with us.

It’s critically important that SEA remains competitive with other study abroad programs, and that our programs don’t cost students more than what they pay at their home institutions.

Gifts in support of financial aid allow us to keep SEA’s cost to our students on par with a semester at their home institutions.

With your help, our goal is to increase SEA’s financial aid endowment by $4 million. Doing so will increase the number of students who receive aid by 20%.

SCHOLARSHIP GIVING LEVELS
Gifts in support of financial aid may be made in any amount. Naming opportunities are available for endowed scholarship funds of $50,000, $150,000, and $500,000. Gifts of less than $50,000 are applied to the SEA endowed scholarship fund.

Samuel V. Howe High School Access Initiative Scholarship Fund

In 2020, Samuel V. Howe (W-3), established a new endowed SEA scholarship fund that will make possible transformational SEA experiences to qualified high school students from diverse backgrounds who are interested in environmental and marine studies. The Samuel V. Howe High School Access Initiative Scholarship Fund will generate income that will make SEA high school program scholarships possible for generations to come.
